Iframes general

For website owners there are a number of standard iframes available to allow you to enhance your website. Each version comes with some advertising and a number of standard defaults. We can also create entirely custom versions as well as provide the information in the form of XML feeds. Contact us for details on how to do that.

These are the standard frames available and they can be freely used by any website owner. If there are any variations you feel might be useful do not hesitate to contact us and we'll see what we can come up with.

Please note that one of the main advantages of our iframes is that you can actually use your own CSS file to determine the presentation of the information. This should make it possible to integrate our frames seamlessly into nearly any website design.

Your continued use of these iframes indicates you agree to the display of these frames without making any changes that remove the name of www.news-on-sports.com, it's advertising, or the mentioning of the original sources of the contained news items. The original publishers retain copyright on their content and news-on-sports retains copyright on the iframes.

Type of iframe
There are 2 types of standard frames currently available.

"titles" will show a list of titles only with the name of the publisher and date. The description is put in the "title" element. Clicking anywhere on the title will open a new window with the full original news article.

"paragraph" will show a list of titles with a short paragraph of text beneath the title. Then the name of the publisher, date and link to the full article. Clicking either the title or the article link will open a new window with the full original news article.

Sport filter :
News can be filtered by sport.
Use the menu here to select some of the possible names as examples. Visit our main site and the menu there will show all possible names that can be used.
Sourceset :
News can be filtered based on a group of sources.
There are 4 groups of sources that can be chosen depending your preferences.

All, does not filter out based of the type of publisher.
News, items only come from actual news publishers like press agencies and newspapers.
www, filters items by internet publishers like organisers and sports websites.
people, limits items based on publishers being more people related, like blogs or forums.
Item index :
Resultsperpage :
Start at news item:
Maximum results :
You can pass the number of results per page in the iframe.
With iframes it is not really possible to determine beforehand how long the frame should be to contain all items. Paragraphs of text may differ in size and the used CSS file also influences the total length. If the total length of the content exceeds the size of the iframe then the "scrolling=auto" setting with the iframe will automatically make a scrollbar appear on the right. ( if that's what you want )

If you duplicate the height of the iframe as a parameter then our server will attempt to limit the number of results to fit into the iframe, effectively overruling the resultsperpage setting. This is not a guarantee that the info will fit and you never get a scrollbar, just a "best effort" which should reduce the appearance of the scrollbars to some exceptional situations only.
Feel free to do some experimenting.
( In this example page we pass the values of iframewidth and iframeheight as parameters so the setting for resultsperpage will be overruled when using this page )

The iframe will end with a "Previous" and "Next" button to allow the user to navigate from page to page. You can also pass this value, news item index to start with, as a parameter should you want to. This parameter should only be used to navigate from page to page starting at 0.

The maximum number of results will determine in turn the total number of pages that can be navigated with the "Previous" and "Next" links. In any case the maximum value for these free iframes is limited to 250.
CSS file to use :
You can pass your own CSS file to be used by the iframe.
This option should allow you to integrate the frame contents almost seamlessly into any website design. Feel free to copy our default file as a starting point. This version contains a large amount of comments to assist you in finding the right settings with each tag: frames_default.css
iframe settings :
iframe width :
iframe length :
You can use any of the standard iframe attributes of course. These standard ones have been tested with a width of approximately 550 and height of anything from 500 to 5000. Just experiment a bit and see what is most appropriate for your site.

If you duplicate the width and length setting as parameters our server will attempt to adjust the content to fit and effectively overrule the resultsperpage setting. We cannot guarantee this will completely eliminate scrollbars appearing but their appearance should become minimal.
Copy and paste this iframe code into the webpage of your site to get the result below.
